COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Gain initial knowledge towards ASUM competency
  • Understand principles of US & operation of US machine
  • Gain basic skills to use thoracic US for safe pleural practice

COURSE CONTENT
Day 1 (4 April 2016): Lectures

  • Basic principles of thoracic US and knobology
  • Demonstration of US skills and techniques
  • Normal anatomy and thoracic pathology by US
  • Interactive case study and discussion

Day 2 (6 April 2016): Small Group Workshops

  • 4-hours practical sessions with hands-on scanning
  • Practice on live patients, gel models and phantoms
  • Identify normal thoracic anatomy and common pathology by US
  • Introduction to US-guided pleural procedures
