Professor Michelle Johnston
Professor Michelle Johnston is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Co-Convenor of CTEC’s 2024 Critical Care Procedures workshops.
A staff specialist at Royal Perth Hospital’s Emergency Department and a Professor of Emergency Medicine at St John of God Murdoch, Professor Johnston is also an award-winning novelist and writer.
Professor Johnston studied medicine at The University of Western Australia and gained her Fellowship with the Australian College for Emergency Medicine in 1998, winning the joint Buchanan prize for highest marks in the fellowship exam.
She was awarded the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine Teaching Excellence award in 2013, and has gone on to grow her role in education even further since.
She runs both the Royal Perth Hospital and Murdoch Hospital Fellowship teaching programs, and believes there is a beating heart of beauty in emergency medicine. It is her job to help others find it.
