Celebrating another year of training and collaboration

On a balmy December evening on the banks of the Swan River CTEC medical faculty joined CTEC’s Director and team at a Sundowner to celebrate the conclusion of another jam-packed annual CTEC training calendar. A highlight of the evening was an Awards ceremony acknowledging a cohort of CTEC’s long-standing current workshop Convenors and faculty who had dedicated significant time to advancing medical training - CTEC’s Distinguished Award recipients.

The event closed a year of particular significance for CTEC with the Centre celebrating its 25th Anniversary of service to the Australian medical community.

Recognising long-standing contributions to medical training

These Awardees joined those faculty announced at the March CTEC 25th Anniversary event. All 2025 Distinguished Service Award recipients dedicated significant time over many years in advancing Australian medical and surgical training. CTEC Director Professor Jeff Hamdorf said the central theme of the evening - and of 2025 - was gratitude to those who have contributed to CTEC’s success over the past 25 years.

“We hope to continue this tradition as an annual event - a chance to recognise and thank those who have given so much to CTEC’s training programs. CTEC’s success is built on collaboration, passion and a shared commitment to excellence. On behalf of us all at CTEC I thank all of our recipients for being an integral part of this incredible quarter century journey.”

A year of impact for CTEC

The Sundowner attendees were some of the almost 200 medical specialists who generously gave their knowledge and time to train other medical professionals on CTEC’s 2025 workshops. Around 2000 medical professionals received training at CTEC in 2025 over 132 workshops and courses. More than 56,000 people have received training at CTEC since its opening on 1 April 2000.
