CTEC’s unique Core Skills: Hepatobiliary Surgery Workshop provides participants the opportunity to learn new skills in a technically challenging and more complex area of General Surgery. It is suitable for Fellows and SET Trainees in General Surgery and GSET Trainees above Level 2.
The only workshop of its type in Australia, this full day cadaveric workshop features 100 per cent surgical dissection time, with a high ratio of expert faculty to participants. Pre-reading will be available prior to the workshop.
This workshop aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and technical skills in laparoscopic and open hepatobiliary surgical procedures. It provides participants with a rare opportunity to practise skills and procedures they may have limited exposure to in the clinical setting. Each practical session will also focus on the immediate anatomy of the structures operated on and their adjacent structures, broadening and consolidating participants’ anatomical knowledge and understanding.
The workshop features the following Cadaveric Procedure Sessions:
Laparoscopic Liver Resection:
- Local liver resection
- Left lateral liver resection
Open Hepatobiliary Surgery:
- Right hemihepatectomy including:
