Overview

CTEC's Critical Care Procedures workshop aims to increase the knowledge and confidence of participants to perform procedures which are not routinely performed, but may be required in a life-saving emergency by critical care practitioners.  Participants will benefit from senior faculty from Emergency Medicine and Surgery disciplines, providing the opportunity to  operate on a cadaver closely simulating actual patients.

The workshop covers a number of procedures for which there is an expectation a practitioner will be able to manage as a life-saving measure, particularly in peripheral, regional or austere environments.  It is specifically designed for doctors working in emergency settings.  This workshop is not aimed at new Trainees, as a level of experience in critical care areas is required.

Please note:

Registrations of interest are invited from eligible doctors for the 2026 Workshops using the links provided above. Please fill out the CTEC Workshop enquiry form and select the Critical Care Procedures Workshop.

Doctors who have submitted applications previously remain in consideration for selection for the 2026 workshops and are not required to submit expressions of interest.

ACEM Late Phase Advanced Trainees and Peri-Fellowship Registrars are encouraged to book or register their interest for CTEC's 2026 Emergency Department Procedures Workshop.

Testimonials
This is the highest fidelity skills training I have done. The models were incredible.....
(The practical stations) improved on the limitations of simulation models, increases confidence with tactile and accurate anatomical feedback.
Hugely experienced and credible faculty who gave outstanding individualised tips and skills training.
This is the most realistic it could be without a live patient.
As close to the real thing as possible.
Excellent balance. Excellent presenters.
